Four suspects arrested in a gang rape case were killed when a police party came under fire in the jurisdiction of Rahman Baba Police Station in Peshawar.

According to Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr Mian Saeed, the arrested suspects were being taken to the crime scene for identification when unidentified assailants opened indiscriminate fire on the police party.

The CCPO said all four suspects in custody were killed after being hit by bullets during the firing, while the police personnel remained unharmed.

The deceased suspects were identified as Amir, Jalal alias Raja, Chacha and Amdas.

According to the Peshawar CCPO, the suspects had allegedly scaled the wall of a house in Garhi Mosa Khan on Sunday night and sexually assaulted women at gunpoint.

Police said a case regarding the incident was registered at Rahman Baba Police Station on September 6. Weapons allegedly used in the crime were also recovered from the arrested suspects.

Police said further investigation into the incident is underway and indiscriminate action against criminal elements will continue.
