
QUETTA, November 26: Four people, including three women, have been killed and two others injured in an attack on polio vaccination team in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province.
The police say the polio workers were travelling to the city to submit the polio campaign report to their seniors when they were waylaid by unidentified gunmen near the eastern bypass.
As a result, two polio workers died on the spot whilst two others succumbed to injuries at the hospital later on.
After the incident, the anti-polio drive was stopped temporarily in Quetta.
As per official records, more than 60 lady health visitors and the guards deployed for their security have been killed in several attacks on vaccination teams since the year 2000.
