Four members of the same family were killed and five others seriously injured when a car fell into a deep ravine in Damgala area of Mansehra.

The deceased include the son, daughter-in-law, grandson and granddaughter of former chairman of the Abbottabad Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Muhammad Parvez.

According to police, the family was travelling from Mansehra to Balakot for a recreational trip when their speeding car went out of control near Damgala, close to Balakot, and plunged into a deep ravine.

A husband, his wife and their young son died on the spot, while their granddaughter, who was shifted to hospital in critical condition, later succumbed to her injuries.

Following the incident, Rescue 1122 and local police reached the site and carried out a rescue operation, recovering the bodies and injured from the ravine and shifting them to a nearby hospital.

The seriously injured were provided initial medical treatment before being shifted to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital in Mansehra, where their condition is reported to be critical.
