CHITRAL, July 8: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has inaugurated a drinking water scheme from the main town to Golen Goal area in Chitral district, and it would benefit approximately 29,000 people.
The Member Provincial Assembly, Mr Saleem Khan, inaugurated the scheme on 7 July.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Public Health Executive Engineer Shahram Shehzada said the scheme cost 22.6 million rupees.
He said 11 water tanks, made at various places in the area under the project, would store 1 million gallons water.
Local residents hailed the water supply schemes. A local resident told TNN, “By the grace of Allah Almighty, today the Golen Goal project was inaugurated and it is good news for all of us. Up to 50 percent population of Chitral will benefit from this scheme.”
Another resident said, “We are thankful to all of these people who started this project here. As we were in need of drinking water in Chitral town. Before this Shoosha project was insufficient for us”.
