The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has started supplying official wheat stocks to operational flour mills across the province to ensure the availability of affordable, quality flour for the public. According to the Food Directorate, from 27 July 2026, 2,000 metric tonnes of government wheat will be supplied to flour mills daily, while the retail price of a 20kg flour bag has been fixed at Rs2,520.

Officials said government wheat will be provided at Rs11,200 per 100kg (including gunny bags), while the ex-mill price of a 20kg flour bag has been set at Rs2,500. The decision was approved by the provincial cabinet.

The Food Directorate said daily wheat quotas have been allocated to all districts based on population to ensure an uninterrupted supply of flour and prevent shortages in any area.

According to official figures, Malakand Division has been allocated the largest daily quota of 20,090 flour bags, followed by Peshawar Division with 16,450, Hazara with 9,905, Mardan with 7,420, Kohat with 6,020, Dera Ismail Khan with 5,145, and Bannu Division with 4,970 flour bags.

Authorities said strict compliance with quality standards, moisture content requirements and other prescribed specifications will be ensured. To improve transparency and monitoring, all operational flour mills have also been directed to retain at least 30 days of CCTV footage.

The government said the initiative aims to provide quality flour to consumers at affordable prices, stabilise market prices and make the wheat distribution system more transparent. Officials believe the move will help keep flour prices stable and provide relief to consumers.
