PESHAWAR, May 19: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Mr Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, has formed a new commission to suggest reforms to the system of tribal areas in Pakistan.
The commission will look into the existing laws. A spokesperson for the Governor House says the commission will propose amendments about the laws prevalent in the tribal areas and will also consider preparation of identity cards and other issues of FATA population.
The spokesperson says the former chief secretary of the province, Mr Ejaz, has been appointed as chairman of the commission while the other members are Lieutenant General (retired) Mr Sabahat Hussain, former chief secretary Mr Mir Laiq Shah, former provincial minister Mr Mussarat Qadim and Additional Secretary Mr Muddasir Riaz.
Previously, a committee had been formed under the supervision of the former Peshawar High Court chief justice, Mr Mian Ajmal, to bring reforms in the tribal areas but the recommendations of the committee have not been implemented so far.
