PESHAWAR, June 9: The federal government has announced reduction in the fee of Hajj package by 23,000 rupees each.

The Federal Ministry of Religious Affairs says in a statement that under the decision, 56,000 pilgrims would be reimbursed more than 1.28 billion rupees before 27 August.

The ministry says the money was saved because the Pakistani authorities got discounts on transport and accommodation charges in Saudi Arabia.

Under the government Hajj scheme, a single intending pilgrim would have to pay 273,000 rupees but after recent decision, the amount has been lowered to 256000 rupees per head.
