HANGU, September 23: Shopkeepers have protested the poor sanitary system and construction of illegal shops in Hangu.

The protesting traders told TNN in front of the Hangu Press Club that the local municipal committee did not take care of cleanliness and did not provide clean drinking water to the people.

They said the insanitary conditions may lead to diseases in the area and that their businesses had also been affected.

The demonstrators said the municipal committee chief had allowed some people to illegally construct shops along a road after getting bribes. He said authorities had not provided facility of electricity to the shops that already exist in the market since long.

Municipal Committee Officer Mr Akhtar Munir rejected the allegations of the local residents and said the shops had been constructed before his posting in the area.
