MALAKAND: Deputy Commissioner Malakand Rehan Khattak has taken notice of a music and dance program of transgender persons at the building of a girls primary school.

The headmistress of the school, watchman and in-charge of Levies post have been suspended. On Thursday night, the watchman of Government Girls Public School in Ghani Dheri area of Malakand district, Amjid, had arranged a dance program of transgender persons at the school building as part of his wedding function. A large number of people came to enjoy the dance program at the government school building.

Deputy Commissioner Rehan Khattak took notice of the incident and immediately suspended the watchman, headmistress and local Levies post in-charge. A committee has also been set up, which is headed by Assistant Commissioner Pir Abdullah, to probe the incidents and present recommendations.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Shahram Khan Tarakai has appreciated the district administration of Malakand over taking prompt action over the negligent officials. He said such incident could not be tolerated and officials involved in mismanagement and negligence will face strict action.

This is not the first time that action has been taken over misuse of school buildings in KP.

Last month, the headmaster and watchman of a government school in Peshawar were suspended over a dance party inside the school.

Local sources said a dance party was arranged inside Government Primary School Mathra in the night and some people filmed the party and put it on social media which went viral quickly.

Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Shahram Khan Tarakai took notice of the matter and the district education officer (DEO) of Peshawar issued a notice of suspension of the school headmaster and watchman. An inquiry was also ordered into the incident.

Meanwhile, on November 14, a famous transgender person, Chahat was expelled from Kohat as she was considered responsible for triggering a firing incident at a wedding function. At least five people were killed in a firing incident during a wedding ceremony in Kohat. Local sources said both the rival groups wanted attention of Chahat during the function which caused rift and eventually the firing and deaths.
