PESHAWAR, August 23: The Hepatitis Day was observed in the whole country, with an aim to aware people of how to prevent the disease.
A ceremony was held at the Rehman Medical Complex in Peshawar. Doctors from various areas of Pakistan attended the event.
A participant of the ceremony, Dr Fazal Raziq, told TNN that Hepatitis was transmitted from one person to another through used syringes, blades and infected blood transfusion.
“Those who visit doctors must ask for a new syringe and must use the blood that is tested in a standard laboratory because Hepatitis-B and C is very common now. Shave must be made with clean instruments and everyone should use a separate, personal toothbrush,” said one of the speakers while addressing the function.
According to a survey, up to nine million people are suffering from Hepatitis in Pakistan and 1.7 million of the victims belong to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
