Peshawar: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) alert for the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa amid forecasts of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
According to PDMA, rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms are expected across the province's upper regions from June 18 to June 22. The weather conditions may trigger flash floods in Upper Chitral, Lower Chitral, Swat, Upper Dir, Kohistan, and Mansehra.
The authority warned that intense rainfall could increase the risk of glacial lake outburst floods, landslides, and localized flooding in vulnerable areas. District administrations have been directed to remain on high alert and closely monitor the situation.

Tourists have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from rivers, streams, and glacial regions during the forecast period. Residents have also been advised to avoid flood channels and fast-flowing water during rainfall.
PDMA spokesperson said that in case of any emergency, citizens should immediately contact the PDMA helpline at 1700.
