‘India’s illegal move in IOK will destroy regional peace’
Prime Minister Imran Khan addresses joint session of Parliament on Tuesday.

PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Imran Khan, while addressing joint session of parliament on Kashmir, said that Pakistan is fighting India’s raciest ideology and expressed fear that India will now do ethnic cleansing of Kashmiris in order to change the demography of the Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK).

Khan said the current BJP government in India is a follower of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) that believes in racist ideology against all minorities in India. He said that when he came into Power, he approached all the neighbours, including India, as he has the vision to rid the country of poverty but Modi didn’t reciprocate.

“India isn’t serious in holding dialogue and resolving the bilateral issues peacefully,” PM Khan said. “The whole Muslim world understands and recognizes the just struggle of Kashmiris for their right of self-determination.” PM Khan urged the international community to play a role in the resolution of occupied Kashmir issue for regional peace and security. He said Pakistan will raise the issue at all international forums, including the UN Security Council and General Assembly.

The leader of opposition in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in their speeches have criticized the government of having issued no policy statement regarding the Kashmir after India abolished its special status through presidential order amid a security lockdown in Jammu and Kashmir.

‘Shall go to any extent to fulfil our obligations to Kashmir’

The military leadership “fully supported the government’s rejections of Indian actions regarding Kashmir” and is “prepared and shall go to any extent to fulfill our obligations [to the Kashmiri people],” Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said on Tuesday after the conclusion of a Corps Commanders meeting in Rawalpindi.

“Pakistan never recognized the sham Indian efforts to legalize its occupation of Jammu & Kashmir through article 370 or 35-A decades ago, efforts which have now been revoked by India itself,” Ghafoor said in a series of tweets from his official account.
