PESHAWAR, September 19: The political parties’ jirga has put forward several sugestions to patch things up between the government and protesting leaders of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awmai Tehrik, which have been demanding re-lections in the country.

The jirga, comprising Pakistan People’s Party’s Mr Rehman Malik, Jamaat-e-Islami chief Mr Sirajul Haq and others, has sent a letter to both sides. The letter has asked the prime minister to make it clear that he would resign in case rigging is proved against him in the last year’s elections.

It also said a commission be formed through an ordinance, and the body should have services of the police officials and foreign experts. It also said the investigations into allegations of rigging must be completed in a specified time.

The political parties’ jirga also suggested the government release all arrested activists of the PTI and that the cases registered against PAT activists be shifted from Punjab to other provinces.
