PESHAWAR, September 10: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has approved a petition against participation of Chief Minister Mr Pervez Khattak and Provincial Assembly Speaker Mr Asad Qaiser in the protests in Islamabad and issued notices to both the officeholders.

General Secretary of the PHC Bar Association Ayaz Khan Advocate filed the petition saying that Chief Minister Pervez Khattak was head of the administration and that he cannot take part in political activities.

He said the chief minister not only took part in the Islamabad protests but also utilised government resources on the protest campaign against the federal government.

He said the Speaker Asad Qaiser was also biased because he participated in one party’s sit-in. He requested the court to suspend both of them their positions.

The PHC division bench, comprising Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel and Justice Ikramullah approved the petition for further hearing and issued notices to Mr Khattak and Mr Qaiser to appear in the court.
