PESHAWAR, May 1: The Tribal Peace Jirga, organised by the Jamaat-e-Islami, has asked the authorities to include at least one tribal elder in both the government and Taliban designated committees for peace talks.

Chief of the Taliban nominated committee Maulana Samiul Haq, member Maulana Yousaf Shah, JI chief Sirajul Haq, provincial chief Prof Muhammad Ibrahim Khan and tribal elders participated in the Jirga held at Nishtar Hall in the provincial capital Peshawar.

Speakers on the occasion asked the Taliban and government to remove hurdles in peace talks and extend ceasefire.

Prof Ibrahim said, “The only solution to the warlike situation is peace talks. The problem cannot be solved through attacks and military operations.”
