Peshawar: Renowned religious scholar and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Maulana Qazi Zahoor Ahmed was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Peshawar’s Badaber area.
According to police, the incident occurred in the Ahmed Khel locality of Badaber when Maulana Zahoor Ahmed was returning home after delivering a post-Isha lecture. Two shell casings of a 30-bore pistol were recovered from the crime scene, and a case has been registered on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, Ataullah.

In a statement, JUI praised Maulana Zahoor Ahmed’s long-standing association with the party and acknowledged his significant contributions and efforts for its cause.
Police stated that it was too early to determine the exact motive behind the killing but confirmed that evidence related to a potential targeted killing was being collected.
