A key planner of the suicide attack on Kohat Police Lines has been killed in a joint operation by security forces and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to details released by the CTD Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the slain militant had planned the attack on Kohat Police Lines and guided the explosive-laden suicide vehicle to the target site.
Officials said the militant was reportedly closely associated with the Gul Bahadur militant group. He was also involved in several serious acts of terrorism and was highly wanted by security agencies.
The CTD said the slain militant was also present during a bank robbery in Bili Tang, in which Rs6 million was looted. The stolen money was later distributed among militant formations in Bakkakhel and Jani Khel in Bannu.

According to officials, around two months ago, the slain militant had also brought a suicide bomber to target the new Kohat Police Lines, but the attack plan could not be carried out successfully.
The CTD said the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) installation and the Police Training School in Kohat were also among the militant’s potential targets, with attacks being planned against these facilities.
According to the department, other members of the militant network involved in these activities are already in the custody of security agencies.
Officials described the operation as a significant achievement, saying the killing of the mastermind behind the Kohat Police Lines attack could help prevent further terrorist plots.
