Khasadar force end polio boycott in South Waziristan

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: After successful talks with Deputy Commissioner who assured that their salaries will be paid within a week, Mehsud Khasadar force promised to resume their regular duties and will end anti-polio duty boycott.

The deputy commissioner, Noman Afzal, while talking to media said that the meeting was arranged with Khasadar force representatives on the directions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and adviser to the chief minister on tribal areas, Ajmal Wazir.

The DC added that tomorrow, Sunday, he has called the Wazir tribe Khasadar elders and will discuss the matters. And will listen to their grievances. DC said that their issues will be conveyed to the chief minister. The deputy commissioner also promised them that he will arrange their meeting with CM in Peshawar.

The main issue of the Khasadar force is the non-payment of their salaries due to which they have boycotted the duties as well as polio duty. “I have informed them that the federal government has resolved the salary issue and the cabinet has given the approval,” said The DC.  He added that the finance department has to release the fund which will further take up to one week.  He expressed the hope the deadlock will be resolved soon.

Noman Afzal said that Khasadar force has ended their polio boycott and will support the government on every forum. DC said that he will also arrange a meeting with Wazir Khasadar force to resolve their problems on a priority basis.

It is worth mentioning here that Khasadar force was not paid salaries for the last 10 months that’s why they had boycott from polio duty and vacated check posts a few days ago. The Khasadar forces representative said that they have been fighting the war against militancy and always remained in the frontline, but the government has failed to recognize their sacrifices. They have also set several protest camps for their demands.
