The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to start disbursing financial assistance to deserving families under the Ramadan Relief Package from today.

The initiative aims to mitigate the effects of inflation during Ramadan and ensure financial support for low-income families.

The government had announced that approximately 1,034,000 families across the province would receive Rs 12,500 per family. However, delays in receiving timely data from various areas caused a postponement in the payments.

Initially, each Member of the National Assembly, Member of the Provincial Assembly, Tehsil Chairman, and other local representatives were instructed to prepare lists of 5,000 beneficiaries.

Sources from the Social Welfare Department said that families whose lists have been verified and checked will start receiving financial assistance from today.

Verification of the remaining lists is also underway to ensure that the maximum number of deserving families receive financial support during Ramadan.

Officials said these measures are being implemented on an emergency basis to provide timely relief to deserving families and promote social welfare during Ramadan.
