LANDI KOTAL, Khyber: Police in Landi Kotal have busted a group involved in illegal border crossings through fake documents, arresting six suspects and recovering Rs132,000 from their possession.

According to police, the arrested individuals were involved in preparing forged documents in exchange for money and facilitating illegal crossings of Afghan and Pakistani citizens across the border.

Officials said the operation was conducted on the special instructions of District Police Officer Waqar Ahmed, under which SHO Landi Kotal, Ishrat Shinwari, tightened checking at the Afghan holding camp, Torkham and other locations.

During the operation, police traced and exposed a network involved in sending people across the border using fake manifests.

The arrested suspects include Saleem, Syed Muhammad Shah, Sher Zaman, Abdullah, Zaker and Ayan. A case has been registered against them, while raids are underway to arrest other members of the network.

SHO Ishrat Shinwari said that action against illegal activities and human smuggling will continue without discrimination.

He added that strict legal action will be taken against anyone involved in such crimes and urged the public to cooperate with police in identifying such elements.
