KOHAT: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police on Saturday foiled smuggling bid of automatic weapons and ammunition on Indus Highway within the jurisdiction of Jurma Police station.
The Kohat district Police officer captain (retired) Wahid Mehmood while talking to media said that automatic weapons and ammunition were recovered from hidden portions of a vehicle in Muslim Abad area during routine checking.
Mehmood added that two inter-districts smugglers’ groups are behind the smuggling bid of weapons. The DPO revealed that they have arrested the alleged smugglers and registered cases against them under relevant sections of laws.
The district police officer revealed that the weapons and ammunition were being smuggled to the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The recovered weapons include three Kalashnikov, Five MP5 guns, 40 pistols, 1200 ammunition, 60 battery chargers, and parts of the different automatic weapons.
The district Police chief said the accused involved in the smuggling bid have been arrested. Kohat police have registered a case in Jurma police station and started further investigation into the case.
Yesterday, the security forces have seized a cache of arms and ammunition dumped underground during a raid at a compound at Chappar Ali Khel area of Upper Orakzai district, the official said. The security official informed that the seized ammunition included heavy machine guns, mortar shells, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and other weapons of different bores.
Roof collapse leaves on dead in Lakki Marwat
LAKKI MARWAT: A truck driver person was dead while two others sustained injuries when the roof of a hotel collapsed in Ghazni Khel area of district Lakki Marwat on Saturday. The incident occurred after heavy rain lashed the district.
The district administration informed that a person identified as Sharifullah Jan along with two other persons trapped under the debris. After the incident, the local people rushed to the spot for rescue operation, however, they could not rescue Sharifullah alive.
The injured were rushed to the district headquarter hospital where they are started to be out of danger.
