A meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was briefed on disciplinary and accountability proceedings against government officers and employees across the province.

According to the briefing, 827 cases involving government officials and employees have surfaced since October 2025. Decisions have been issued in 629 cases, while proceedings in 198 cases are still underway.

Of the 629 decided cases, 589 officials and employees were punished, while 40 were exonerated. As part of the disciplinary action, 128 employees were removed from service, 18 were dismissed from service and six were compulsorily retired.

The briefing said two employees were demoted, one was arrested, salary recoveries were ordered against 89 employees, and promotions of 39 employees were stopped. Charge sheets were issued to 16 employees, salary cuts were imposed on 14, and 10 employees were suspended.

Warnings were issued to 155 employees, while 52 were reprimanded.

Unauthorised absence emerged as the most common offence, accounting for 447 cases, or 54 per cent of the total. The cases also included 120 instances of negligence in duty, 75 cases of corruption and financial irregularities, and 75 cases of incompetence.

In addition, 14 cases of misconduct, 13 cases of poor supervision and 11 cases involving violations of rules were reported.

The accountability proceedings included 221 show-cause notices, 279 cases seeking explanations, 184 inquiries, 102 suspensions, 23 expressions of displeasure and nine cases in which employees were placed at the disposal of the government (OSD).

Department-wise, 305 cases originated from district offices, 263 from attached departments and institutions, and 259 from the provincial secretariat and central departments.

The meeting was further informed that field visits to health facilities resulted in the suspension of 90 officers and employees at the District Headquarters Hospital Swabi. Another 61 officials and employees at District Headquarters Hospital Lakki Marwat were also suspended.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that, in line with the vision of PTI founder Imran Khan, no one was above accountability and transparency remained a top priority in the government system.

He said the provincial government would not compromise on good governance, merit and transparency, adding that a zero-tolerance policy was being pursued against corruption.

“There is no place for corrupt elements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the chief minister said.
