The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Monday evening/night unti October 7.
According to the PDMA, upper districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra and Abbottabad are also expected to receive thunderstorms and rain.
The weather system is likely to cause a 2 to 4°C drop in daytime temperatures, the authority said.
In view of the forecast, the PDMA has directed all district administrations to take precautionary measures and ensure continuous monitoring of rivers and streams.

Relevant departments have also been asked to keep drainage systems clean and operational and ensure the availability of rescue personnel and necessary equipment to deal with any possible emergency.
The PDMA advised tourists to avoid unnecessary travel during the rain and exercise extra caution. It also urged residents to seek shelter in safe places during thunderstorms and stay away from power lines and other hazardous objects.
The authority warned the public against entering or crossing floodwater.
The PDMA’s Provincial Emergency Operations Centre is operating round the clock to monitor the situation.
People can contact the PDMA helpline at 1700 in case of an emergency.
