The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has approved the withdrawal of the case related to the violence and firing incidents that took place in Mardan on May 9.

According to sources, the provincial government has replaced the public prosecutor handling the case and appointed Additional Advocate General Inamullah as the special prosecutor.

Sources said that the Additional Advocate General submitted a letter from the Additional Home Secretary to the court, formally requesting the withdrawal of the case.

 Following the submission, the court adjourned further hearings until October 15.

It may be recalled that during the May 9 incidents in Mardan, stone-pelting and firing left political workers, bystanders, and police personnel injured.

Among those named in the case are Zahir Shah Toro, MNA Mujahid Khan, and several others.
