PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mehmood Khan has established election control room to coordinate among all the relevant institutions working for free and fair elections in tribal districts.

A statement issued on Friday said that the election control room will remain functional for 24 hours and will work to coordinate among the concerned institutions working to ensure free and fair elections in newly merged districts of the province.

The Chief Minister directed that all the government institutions to play an important role to ensure transparent election so that the people can elect the real representatives. “Conducting election in tribal districts was a challenged for KP government that’s why they declared it as a first priority to organize fair and free election without wasting any more time,” said the statement issued from Chief Minister House.

JI demands free and fair election

TIMERGARA: Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) senator Sirajul Haq has asked all concerned institutions, especially the ECP, for efforts to ensure that free and fair election is held in newly merged districts today.

The JI Chief was addressing workers’ convention at Timergara. The JI workers from Bajaur and Momand also attended the event. “The ECP had lost confidence among the masses as the 2018 elections were rejected by all political leadership,” alleged JI Chief. “This shouldn’t happen again. The ECP has to conduct transparent polls to restore people’s trust.”

Criticizing the PTI government the JI chief alleged that the economy has been handed over to International Monitory Fund (IMF). “People have lost purchasing power to even get access to the daily used items.”

Senator Siraj Ul Haq said that if the July 20 election were rigged, people of the country will completely lose trust in democracy and the democratic institutions of the country. The JI Chief urged PTI doesn’t need more members because it has a vast majority in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly, therefore; all efforts should for transparent elections so that the tribal people can elect their true representatives.
