KP Government Allocates Over Rs 5.5 Billion to Modernize Police for Counterterrorism Efforts
The provincial government has also decided to equalize police officers' salaries with those of Balochistan Police, while police personnel will receive salaries on par with Punjab Police.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to equip the provincial police force with advanced weapons and modern technology to enhance its effectiveness against terrorism. To support this initiative, over Rs 5.5 billion has been immediately released.
As part of the upgrade:
- Rs 3 billion has been allocated for bulletproofing police vehicles and purchasing modern equipment.
- Rs 1.3 billion has been provided to secure police stations and checkpoints across all districts.
- Rs 500 million has been earmarked to complete pending police station and checkpoint construction projects under the Annual Development Program.
- Rs 720 million has been issued for the procurement of night vision goggles, sniper rifles, and other advanced gear for the police force.
- Additionally, Special Weapons and Tactical Teams (SWAT) will be established in all districts to enhance counterterrorism capabilities.
