The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is continuing the release of wheat from its official warehouses to functional flour mills across the province to ensure the availability of flour at government-approved rates, the Food Department said.

According to the department, 21,319 metric tonnes of wheat have so far been supplied to functional flour mills from government warehouses. Of the wheat supplied, 19,319 metric tonnes have been milled by the flour mills.

The Food Department said subsidized flour is being supplied at government-approved rates through 1,573 designated dealers across all districts of the province.

So far, 676,165 bags of 20-kilogram flour have been provided to the public, while the supply of a 20kg flour bag at the official price of Rs2,520 is continuing through registered designated dealers.

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Food, Dr Muhammad Israr Khan, said the provincial government was taking practical measures to ensure the availability of flour to the public at official rates.

He said the continued supply of wheat to flour mills was aimed at ensuring sufficient availability of flour across the province and maintaining price stability.

Dr Israr Khan said the government would not tolerate any negligence in ensuring the supply of flour to consumers at the official price.

He added that the provincial government was continuously monitoring the entire process of wheat and flour supply.

The Special Assistant also urged consumers to monitor the quality of government-supplied flour themselves and immediately inform the Food Department if they received substandard flour.
