The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, following a crackdown on extortionists, has now decided to take strict measures against those who pay extortion.
The provincial government has revealed that a large number of contractors, mine leaseholders, and business figures are involved in making these payments.
According to sources within the Home Department, data on those who pay extortion will be compiled, and action will be carried out through the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). Additionally, a decision has been made to trace cross-border calls and the points of contact of extortionists.

The sources further indicated that the provincial government plans to reach out to the federal level for the third time to help trace the points of contact.
While the CTD in Punjab has access to call tracing and contact points, the federal government has not yet established a task force to curb extortion activities.
