
PESHAWAR, May 29: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has inaugurated the National Paralympic Games for the disabled athletes in the provincial capital Peshawar.
About 300 players from all over country are participating in the games. The games were inaugurated by the chief minister’s advisor Meher Taj Roghani at the Peshawar Sports Complex.
The two-day games include cricket, table tennis, lawn tennis, badminton and athletics competitions. In the first match, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa team beat FATA team in a cricket match.
One of the disabled players told TNN, “We are very thankful to the government for arranging this sports event. The physically challenged players are very passionate but they don’t get opportunities. They need to be facilitated in sports.”
