PESHAWAR, September 9: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has released 100 million rupees for the flood-affected people of Punjab province.
The Chief Minister, Mr Pervez Khattak, handed the amount over to the army chief General Raheel Sharif to spend it for welfare of affected people through the army.
According to a statement from the ISPR, the chief minister and army chief also discussed the ongoing military operation “Zarb-e-Azb” in North Waziristan.
Meanwhile, the water level in floods of Punjab is increasing with passage of time. According to the Punjab government, the residents of Jhang have been asked to leave the area because of increasing level of water in the Tremo Barrage.
The Meteorological Department says more rains are expected in the next two days. The National Disaster Management Authority says 210 people have died in floods in Punjab, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan so far while about 850 villages have been submerged in water.
