PESHAWAR, July 17: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to open a new department of the neurosurgery at the Khyber Teaching Hospital.
At a hearing in the Peshawar High Court, the hospital’s lawyer told the bench that the provincial government would launch the neurosurgery department at the KTH within three months.
Dr Mumtaz, head of the Neurosurgery Department at the Lady Reading Hospital, had filed a case, saying that there was just one neurosurgery department at the LRH, which was overcrowded often. He said many patients had to wait for surgeries at the LRH due to high volume of cases.
He requested the high court to issue directives for setting up a neurosurgery department at the KTH so that it shares burden of the neurosurgery patients with the LRH.
