The Anti-Corruption Department has launched an investigation into financial and administrative irregularities within the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Department. According to sources, all records and documents have been requested following complaints of financial mismanagement.
A 27-point questionnaire has been sent to the department, asking the Director General of Sports to provide details of funds spent in May and June 2024. Additionally, information regarding the hiring process and approval of daily wage employees has been sought.
The inquiry also demands details of income and expenditures from three sports complexes and information related to five bank accounts. Furthermore, records of all construction and renovation projects, including contracts awarded within the department and the DG Office, have been requested.

The Anti-Corruption Department has also sought details on the construction of 1,000 sports grounds across the province, amid reports of substandard materials being used in these projects. Investigations are underway into these allegations.
Meanwhile, attempts to obtain a statement from Provincial Sports Minister Fakhar Jehan regarding the matter were met with no response.
