KP to take up issue of NMDs uplifts funds transfer with center

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) apex committee on Tuesday discussed the over security situation in Newly Merged Districts (NMDs) and said the issue of funds transfer will be taken up with the federal government for speedy launch and completion of uplift projects in merged districts.

The committee was headed by Governor Shah Farman while Chief Minister Mehmood Khan, Corps commander Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood, Chief Secretary Saleem Khan, IG Police Muhammad Naeem and other senior officials also participated in the meeting.

The apex committee decided in the meeting that all uplift projects in NMDs will be launched in consultation with the local committee so the actual issues faced by the people are addressed first. They have also discussed the availability of funds for the ongoing as well upcoming projects in the newly merged districts and said they the government will take up to the federal government for the release of funds for the uplift projects on time.

It was also decided in the meeting to make the institutions further strong in the tribal districts and the efficiency of the law enforcement agencies will be further strengthened. The committee has also assured that the compensation for the war-affected houses and businesses will also be released on time.

To resolve the disputes at the local levels dispute resolutions committees will be constituted at local levels. This will also be helpful in reducing the burden on the regular courts and the people will get justice without any delay. The committee also decided that the government servants in tribal districts will be provided with their salaries via AG office.

The apex committee directed to complete all the ongoing uplift projects in tribal districts within due time and stressed the need for transparency in all the government-run projects.

The members of the committee were also briefed about the fencing of Pak- Afghan Border. The governor in his address said that the PTI government has started taking historic steps in tribal belt that will bring progress and prosperity.
