Lawyers from the District Bar Association staged a protest at the Judicial Complex in Lakki Marwat against alleged misbehavior and threats by Deputy Commissioner Hamidullah Khattak toward a lawyer. The protesters chanted slogans against the deputy commissioner.

The lawyers condemned what they described as the deputy commissioner’s alleged illegal, unconstitutional and anti-lawyer attitude. They demanded that the provincial government and relevant senior authorities remove Deputy Commissioner Hamidullah Khattak from his post and transfer him out of the district within two days, warning that otherwise the protest would be expanded.

The protest was led by District Bar Association Lakki Marwat President Asif Iqbal, Advocate High Court, and former president Naimatullah Khan, Advocate.

Addressing the protest, Asif Iqbal and Naimatullah Khan alleged that the deputy commissioner had disrupted the district’s administrative affairs.

They claimed that complaints regarding alleged corruption in the district had surfaced, while there were reports that the deputy commissioner’s brother was being brought forward in matters related to contracts. They said this raised concerns about misuse of authority and a possible conflict of interest.

The lawyers’ leaders said lawlessness was increasing in Lakki Marwat and residents felt unsafe. They said the district administration should focus on maintaining law and order and addressing public concerns. According to them, the administration is responsible for providing relief to the public, ensuring the rule of law and maintaining peace and security.

Asif Iqbal Advocate said the lawyers’ community did not consider any government official above the law. He said that if a lawyer was allegedly mistreated or threatened at a government office, the lawyers would not remain silent and would pursue every possible legal and constitutional avenue.

He said the lawyers would continue their protest until their demands were accepted and would not bow to any pressure. He also called for a transparent and impartial investigation into the allegations against the deputy commissioner so that the facts could come to light.

The lawyers’ leaders warned that if the deputy commissioner was not transferred within two days, the scope of the protest would be further expanded.

Meanwhile, Lakki Marwat Deputy Commissioner Hamidullah Khattak denied all the allegations.

Speaking exclusively to TNN, Deputy Commissioner Hamidullah Khattak said Ehsan Advocate had visited him and requested funds for a football tournament. However, he said he was told that funds were released by the Sports Department and that there was a proper procedure for obtaining them.

According to Hamidullah Khattak, no misbehavior took place during the meeting. The deputy commissioner further said that Ehsan Advocate had also recommended appointing a person of his choice as the polio in-charge in a union council, but he rejected the recommendation.

Hamidullah Khattak claimed that a record number of development projects had been completed in Lakki Marwat over the past year.
