Security forces have killed 37 terrorists of the Indian proxy group Fitna al-Khawarij during operations in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, according to the Ministry of Information.

The ministry said that following recent terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security forces conducted coordinated and comprehensive intelligence-based operations in Kohat, Hangu and Thall against the militants.

On September 20, nine terrorists of Fitna al-Khawarij were killed and several others injured during operations in Kohat and Hangu. The hideouts and safe houses of the militants were also targeted through air strikes.

Separately, an operation was conducted against Fitna al-Khawarij camps and hideouts in the Pakistan-Afghanistan border region, during which three targets were successfully destroyed. One of the targets was a training centre for suicide bombers.

According to officials, 28 terrorists, including several suicide bombers, were killed during the operation in the border area. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition present at the militants’ centres and hideouts was also destroyed.

The government said Pakistan continues to work for peace and stability in the region, while the safety and security of citizens remains its top priority. Officials said Afghanistan continues to serve as a hub of terrorism and that the threat of terrorism facing Pakistan originates from Afghanistan. In this context, militant centres were precisely targeted.

The Minister for Information said maximum precautionary measures were taken during the operations to protect civilians and prevent damage to civilian lives and property.

According to officials, the counterterrorism campaign, Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq, will continue at full pace to completely eliminate terrorism carried out with foreign patronage and support.
