MALAKAND, October 13: The district administration in Malakand have launched a campaign against under-18 motorcyclists and fined several bikers besides confiscating several two-wheelers.
Several young motorcyclists died in accidents during the Eidul Azha days this year, including two brothers, Mr Ilyas and Mr Abbas.
In the wake of the accidents and resultant casualties, the Malakand administration has taken action against about 200 motorcyclists under 18 years of age.
Local residents have welcomed this decision of the administration to discourage young men from riding bikes.
“This decision will help lower the rate of accidents. Some youth are seen performing stunts while riding motorcycles, while their parents don’t know about that,” said an area resident.
Another resident said, “The parents should also avoid buying their young children motorcycles.”
