MARDAN: The Mardan police have suspended four policemen for alleged involvement in corruption and other criminal activities on Wednesday. The suspended officials include one sub-inspector and three constables.
The district Mardan police spokesperson told media that the Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued strict instructions to conduct an investigation and search out all the corrupt officials within the police department.
He added that Mardan police have conducted investigation and removed four officials from service while further investigation against them is underway. Those removed from service on the allegation of corruption are sub-inspector Zubair Khan, Head constable Ibrahim, constable Irfan and constable Abdullah.
In April, this year, the Mardan police had suspended five policemen for alleged involvement in corruption and criminal activities. The suspended officials include 2 sub-inspectors, 2 constables and a sweeper.
District Police Officer (DPO), Mardan Sajjad Khan said that they have conducted departmental investigation against all the accused and suspended them after collecting proper proofs against them. The DPO announced that KP police will not tolerate any negligence in the performance of duty and corrupt officials in the police force will be taken to justice.
The DPO added that those policemen who show extra-ordinary efficiency will be awarded certificates to encourage them. Sajjad added that KP police is a professional force and directed all the police officer to perform their duties with full dedication, according to the rule and regulation of the KP police force.
On April 4, Nowshera police have also suspended thirty-one police officials including sub-inspectors for alleged links with criminals and anti-state elements. District Police Officer Nowshera, Mansoor Aman had also directed concerned officials for further investigation so that they may not go unpunished. According to police resources, the decision was taken on the recommendation of the internal accountability wing of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police department.
