Fearing a possible military operation against militants, residents of Central Kurram have begun leaving their homes in large numbers.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), more than 15,000 people, representing over 2,200 families from 22 villages in the Alisherzai and Masozai areas, have so far been displaced.
PDMA District Coordinator Shiraz Bacha said that temporary camps have been established for the displaced families in various parts of Kurram and Thall districts.

He added that two registration desks have been set up at the NADRA office in Lower Kurram’s Khwar Kaly to facilitate the registration of temporarily displaced persons (TDPs). The initiative, he said, would help resolve transportation and other logistical issues.
Meanwhile, several displaced families complained about not receiving full payment for transportation costs.
Residents urged the authorities to take timely measures to address the growing hardships faced by the displaced population.
