WANA, October 27: The Mehsud tribe in South Waziristan tribal region has formed an 11-member committee for talks with Khan Said Sajna group of the Taliban.

The committee was formed at a Jirga of Mehsud tribe in Tank district on 26 October. The committee, comprising Malik Rapa Khan, Malik Mehtab Khan, Maulana Noor Muhammad, Maulana Hasamuddin, Maulvi Ibrahim, Malik Sharang, Malik Azizullah, Malik Muzaffar and Malik Shah Alam, is headed by Mr Malik Ikramuddin, father-in-law of former Tehrik-e-Taliban chief Mr Baitullah Mehsud (late).

Though some sources say the venue and time for talks with the Taliban will be decided after consultation with the authorities, a local source told TNN that the committee had left for talks.

Five months ago, the Khan Said Sajna group had parted from the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan and formed the Tehrik-e-Taliban Waziristan.
