PESHAWAR: The federal government on Saturday opened the guest houses situated in scenic valleys of the country for local and foreign tourists. The purpose of the initiative is to provide the best facilities to tourists and to promote tourism in the country.
The guest houses in Murree, Ayubia, Gilgit, Swat and Muzaffarabad have already opened their doors for tourists.
A statement issued, in this regard, by federal minister for postal services said that the tourists have no more to pay hefty charges to private guest houses as the federal government has opened its guest houses for the public.
The notification has been issued on the direction of Federal minister of communication and postal services, Murad Saeed. The notification said that the public while visiting the scenic valleys of the country for tourism purpose can stay in the postal service’s guesthouses.
The renovation of postal services rest houses in Quetta and Karachi has also been completed and will be opened for public. The notification said that the step has been taken to increase the government sources of revenue.
Tourists will now be able to stay in government reserves at very low costs. The rent starts at Rs 1, 200 per night. A-category guest houses will also be open for the public for just Rs 3, 000. Earlier, only senior government officials and VIPs were able to avail these facilities.
Before this, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has already opened its guest houses for the public. The federal and provincial Governments have said that they are spending millions on renovating these guest houses over the year to facilitate the national and international tourists.
For decades, these restaurants have been very luxurious and treat for elite class as well as government officials. Now anyone can book a room there in very economical prices that will not only facilitate the tourists but will also promote tourism in the country.
