

PESHAWAR, October 11: The minorities living in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have demanded formation of Emergency Response Unit for protection of their rights and solution to their problems.
Addressing a seminar organised by the Sustainable Development Society at the Peshawar Press Club, elders of various minority communities and political parties said members the Sikh, Hindu and Christian communities have been targeted for quite some time.
Hashim Babar of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Dr Said Alam Mehsud of the Pakhtunkhwa Ulasi Tehrik, All Pakistan Hindu Rights Movement chairman Haroon Sarab Diyal and civil society members Nusrat Ara, Aimal Khan, Zar Ali, Waqas Ahmed and Taimur Kamal addressed the seminar.
The speakers demanded the government ensure equal treatment to the minorities in various departments and employment opportunities for them as per the 1973 Constitution.
