PESHAWAR, October 16: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved security plan for the month of Moharramul Haraaam and declared four districts sensitive.
According to a statement from the Home Department, the authorities have decided to ensure aerial surveillance of Peshawar, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan and Hangu, which have been declared sensitive areas during the month.
Pillion-riding will be banned in Peshawar from 1 to 10 of the holy month. In addition to policemen, the commandoes of the Frontier Corps and Frontier Constabulary will also be deployed across the province and the Pakistan Army will also be called if needed.
The sensitive areas are often prone to Sunni-Shia clashes during Moharramul Haram, the month in which the Shias in Pakistan stage processions and as a result the business activities come to a halt because of closure of markets in various cities of Pakistan.
