DIR, May 4: Gochi, a type of mushroom produced naturally in the hilly areas, is a source of livelihood for many families in Upper Dir district .
The Gochi, also called Busi in certain areas, are produced naturally in Bostan, Barawal, Osherai areas of Upper Dir district and certain areas in Lower Dir district in the months of March and April. The local residents pluck Gochi in the mountains.
A seller of Gochi told TNN that this year the rate of the commodity is 60,000 rupees per kilogram. He said the dealers also dispatched the commodity to France, Switzerland and other countries where it is used in meals and preparation of medicines.
A local doctor said that Gochi is effective in treatment of cough, asthma and several other diseases.
