

PESHAWAR, July 24: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has started a new air-conditioned transport service to facilitate residents of the provincial capital Peshawar.
According to a statement from the Transport Department, the service comprises 55 vehicles that will ply the Ring Road route from Chamkani up to Hayatabad township.
Of 55 vehicles, 5 have been reserved for women only. The fare of these vehicles will be 50 rupees per head.
At the inaugural ceremony, Director of the department, Mr Mansoor Ahmad, said that 10 vehicles had started functioning today while the remaining would get route permits within a week to start service in the city.
“At least 50 vans would be introduced to boost public transport in Peshawar. Majority of the vehicles are air-conditioned,” he added.
