
PESHAWAR, October 9: Authorities have suspended international flights in nighttime due to security concerns at the Bacha Khan International Airport in the provincial capital Peshawar.
Speaking to journalists, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority Mr Muhammad Yousaf said the federal government had released 6 billion rupees for security of the airports.
On 25 June, unidentified gunmen fired shots on a plane landing at the Peshawar airport, killing a woman passenger and injuring two crewmembers.
On 7 October, another passenger plane was shot at while landing at the airport; however, no human or property loss was reported.
