DI KHAN, May 3: Nine people were killed after coming into contact with poisonous waste material from a factory in Dera Ismail Khan district, the police said.
A minor girl slipped into a drain that carries poisonous waste material from a sugar mill. Other people nearby rushed to the spot to rescue the minor girl but they also lost consciousness and fell into the drain.
Sources in the local hospital said nine people had died and 10 others fainted owing to the poisonous substances.
The police have arrested seven members of the mill management. Five of the deceased hail from a single family.
