
PESHAWAR, September 9: There is been no letup in flash floods in Punjab province and local media reports say floodwater has submerged about 800 villages.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has confirmed that till now 215 people have died and more than 300,000 families have suffered.
According to NDMA, Hafizbad, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Chiniot and Jhang areas have been effected the most, where Pakistan Army are busy in relief and rescue operation.
The people are being shifted to safer places through boats and choppers and 200 rescue and 485 medical camps have been dispatched to the affected areas.
The NDMA says water level in Tremo Barrage is increasing and if water is let out of the barrage through its sides, it can result in floods in another 2,000 villages of Athara Hazari tehsil.
