CHARSADDA, August 29: Firing in Charsadda district left one person dead and two others injured, including a former member of local peace committee.

The police say the former peace committee member Malak Nawaz was going somewhere along with his friends in Shabqadar tehsil when the gunmen opened fire on him.

As a result, Mr Ziarat Gul died on the spot, while Mr Malak Nawaz and his other fellow were injured.

 Two bombs defused in Tank: Meanwhile, security forces have defused two bombs in Tank district. Administration officials say the bombs, placed close to residence of local peace committee member Mr Gul Salim Betani, were defused in Shah Zaman village.

Major Sadiq of the Pakistan Army told TNN that such bombs were used to destroy tanks.

“Each bomb weighs about 8kg, it is made of iron and even extensively damages tanks. Our teams succeeded in defusing the explosive devices on time,” he added.
