
DI KHAN, May 12: The local administration conducted an operation against encroachments in Dera Ismail Khan district and demolished the rooms and washrooms of hotels and other structures raised on state land.
According to TNN correspondent, the operation was carried out in Shangla market, Circular road, Tank Adda, Daraband Chungi, Qareshi Morh, and grid station bazaar.
Local shopkeepers later staged protest rally. One of the shopkeepers told TNN, “It is our shop and we were regularly paying its rent. No notice was issued to us and these people came here yesterday and started demolishing my shop, causing damage to goods worth millions of rupees.”
Assistant Commissioner DI Khan, Irfanullah Mehsud, told TNN, “The district council had given certain lands to people on lease, but they later encroached on additional spaces and crossed their boundary limit up to 25 feet.”
