PESHAWAR, November 10: The number of families displaced by the Operation Khyber-1 has reached 65,000, stated the administrator of Khyber Agency.
Mr Shahab Ali Shah, the political agent, said that camps had been held for the displaced people at Togh Serai in Hangu, Ring Road in Peshawar and Jalozai in Nowshera district, where they are registered and provided with the aid.
He added that the Bara tehsil would be cleared of militants in the operation. He said the polio campaign had also been adversely affected due to the state of emergency amid military operation; that is why 55 children have been crippled by polio in Khyber Agency this year.
He assured that 128,000 children would be vaccinated in the region by 21 November, for which preparations are in progress.
